For roughly the price of a new BRZ, does this blown BRZ make you drool?

Kinja'd!!!

I'm feeling NP if everything checks out. This is pretty much how I'd mod my own BRZ, besides the noticeable lack of World Rally Blue :(

I'd definitely try to negotiate it down a little but this tastefully modded BRZ checks all the right boxes, besides color!

That's a very clean and well done BRZ, but I have a rule that I will not buy a heavily modified car. I just don't trust the work that's gone into them unless I've been there along the way.

Loving the look of the ESM 004 wheels on the BRZ though!

Even adult owned.....makes me question how true that statement is....Also, I know how er....irresponsible the dealer I was at when we got the FRS's in.....I can imagine the techs at Subaru were similar.....those things were redlined....

not sure what you mean, it's a pretty clean build with a classic wheel combo: wide BBS LM reps. Nothing too crazy IMO.

Hahaha, I will say, based on the mod list this guy seems like a decently responsible owner. He didn't cheap out on anything (besides getting BBS reps, but that's understandable.)

Yeah I'm nearby, a friend of mine is shopping for an FRS that she's gonna turbo and daily drive. I'm gonna show her this and see how she feels.

It's a seemingly good investment for somebody that wants all the goodies, but doesn't want to spend all the money for the goodies.

Is she going to build the bottom end?

(Not a euphemism)

What makes no sense to me is spending more than 50 grand buying and building a car just to sell it for about half that a year and a half later.

Hahaha yeah I believe those were in her plans. She was originally saving up for an NSX but after riding in a turbo'd FRS at an autocross event she's fallen in love.

She may even go the widebody route, which I'd personally love to see.

Oh I never understood that. Not even just this car, but anytime I read a for sale ad that says "over $20k invested, don't lowball!!" I always wonder why you'd want to get rid of a car that you spent so much on for so little.

A BRZ that is actually own.

Now, all we have to do is figure out why the price is so low.

That would be a damn good car. I've heard good things about these engines with forged internals.

I was saving for something big, then I rode in a worked over wrx, bought one, built/tuned to 365/420. Just clocked 15,000 miles on my build

I've sent her links to some interesting posts!! I think she made a burner a few months ago and commented around a bit but she forget all the info for it.

She was always on E90post as she drives a 335i, but she recently parted it out to a few locals as she's getting ready to sell it for an FRS.

Oh, sounds really interesting. Got a link to a build thread? I want to make a move into the FI game but I can't decide between a 335is or an STI. Either get a new STI or get a CPO 335is. Decisions decisions...

I'd love a subie hatch though, it would be too hard to resist a gently used WRB hatch if one popped up locally.

ha. probably true. You've gotta do your research, this one isn't overly modified really, and most of the parts would have warranty. I'm actually surprised it doesn't have more power than what he claims.

Agreed that it isn't really heavily modified, in that they haven't touched the internals, but IMO adding FI to an NA engine, changing out the brakes, and coilovers qualifies as too modded for me.

It's really the FI that puts it over the top for me. The main thing though, is I want my car to be like a blank canvas. If it's going to be modified, it's going to be done by me and I want to start with a fresh slate.

Some people are just always after the next thing. I love cars (and other toys) as much as the next guy, but getting a new car every couple years is a great way to blow through a lot of money fast. I can't not think of lost opportunity cost when I read an ad like this. I owned my last car for 7 years and 90k miles, and I'd love to keep the car I've got now in the stable for the long haul.

Maybe she'll come back to OPPO, since it's basically an FR-S/BRZ/FocusST/FiestaST forum.

Yeah I totally agree with you. As much as I'd love to buy a new car every 2 years it's just a dumb financial decision. I hope to keep my E90 for as long as I can, or at least until 100k (at 60k now). You drive an E90 M3, correct? I'd definitely keep that around for as long as possible. A n/a V8 M3 could definitely become a lusted after car down the road.

Even though I'm already shopping for my next car/second car, it's only because the longer I spend searching for the most ideal car the longer I'll keep that car.

That's right - it was my two-year hooniversary yesterday! I've got 65k miles on mine. NA high-revving V8 + manual + hydraulic steering + RWD + four doors = a very rare bird. Hope she's put together well enough to make it to 200k+.

I'm so glad I went "big" a couple years ago. My last car was a Mazda 3s hatch. My wife actually encouraged me to get a car I really loved, since she knew I would just regret it if I didn't. Good luck on your hunt!

Yeah that's fair enough. whereas I look at this an all right starting point for someone already interested in pulling apart the motor and rebuilding it with stronger internals. The work on the assisting mods has already been done, and you can fix any problems you see when you pull it apart.
